A Short Introduction toTexas Hold Em Poker

Texas hold em poker is the most commonly-known poker variant. This poker variant is game of community cards, meaning the dealt cards are "shared" among the players to form a five-card combination. Each player is given two cards, or hole cards, that he or she can use to form the five-card combination from the five cards dealt by the dealer.

Objective The players of texas hold em poker are mainly concerned about taking home the pot. The pot is the total bets of the players and is placed at the centre of the table. The amount of pot size is controlled by the player's bet amounts, on which they bet based on their self-assurance of that they are able to form the highest combination among the other players around the poker table.

The five-card combinations come in different varieties, each one higher than the other. Hence, the combinations in texas hold em poke r are ranked according to their "value". To win, the goal of the players is to form the highest possible five-card combination. In case of the absence of any combination, the remaining player with the highest single card is the determined winner.

The Game To start the game of the texas hold em poker, two players pay the blinds, or "forced bet", to make sure that there is an initial amount of money in the pot. Then the dealer shuffles the deck and distributes the hole cards to the players. The players then place money on the pot during the pre-flop period, betting according to their confidence with their starting hands.

After all bets are placed, the dealer exposes three more cards from the remaining pile of the deck, hence these three cards are known as the "flop". Some players have already formed a five-card combination at this point, but still, there are still two more cards are yet to be exposed to determine which player has formed the highest combination among the rest. Right after the card/s are exposed, the betting rounds are resumed. The player who folds, or quits, during each of the betting round has quit the entire game of the texas hold em poker.

The river is the final card that is flipped face up by the dealer, and the remaining players get to have a showdown after a round of betting.

The texas hold em poker not only requires luck in the outcomes, but also intensive amounts of skill in enemy-reading and even mathematics for huge stakes. However, texas hold em is still a leisurely activity for simply those who want to have fun and unwind.
